India’s men beat the Republic of Korea 63-31 on Tuesday, day two of the Asian Games kabaddi competition at the Tokai Citizens Gymnasium in Aichi Prefecture.
Captain Sunil Kumar and vice-captain Pawan Sehrawat lead a squad in which only four players remain from the side that won gold at the previous Games, the other two being Arjun Deshwal and Aslam Inamdar. Head coach Balwan Singh is back in charge of the team after a decade away.
Around the groups
In Group B, Iran beat Nepal 76-23 and Pakistan defeated Nepal 58-43. India’s men complete their group games against Bangladesh and Chinese Taipei, while the women, led by Pushpa Rana, face Iran in the key match of their group.
The top two teams in each group reach the semi-finals on 25 September, and both finals are on 26 September.
