The Champions League no longer has a group stage. All 36 clubs sit in one league table, and each plays eight matches against eight different opponents, four at home and four away, with two opponents drawn from each of four seeding pots.
Three ways out of the table
The top eight go straight into the round of 16. Clubs finishing 9th to 24th play a two-legged knockout play-off for the remaining eight places. The bottom 12 are eliminated, with no drop into the Europa League.
